The Implementing Cisco IOS Unified Communications exam is part of Cisco's CCNA Voice certification which comprises of 3 exams. It is a required piece to the certification.

The certification is targeted at Network computer support technician involved with managing and administrating voice technology. The exam covers IP telephony installation, configuration, and maintenance skills by testing a candidate's knowledge of implementing and configuring small- to medium sized IP Telephony solutions using Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, Cisco Unity Express, and the UC500 Smart Business Communications System solutions. The Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS) 640-553 course provides elaborated study of the network security. This course is broadly classified in the following groups: Security threats in a modern network infrastructures, securing the Cisco routers and switches, implementing AAA on the Cisco routers using local router database and external ACS, mitigating threats to the Cisco routers and networks using ACLs, implementing secure network management, mitigate common Layer 2 attacks, implementing the Cisco IOS firewall feature set using SDM, implementing the Cisco IOS IPS feature set using SDM, implementing site-to-site VPNs on Cisco Routers using SDM.

IINS covers various security threats, implementing, and securing the network devices and the network associated with them. CThe candidates who have interest in the network security should have completed the recommended Cisco training. After completing certification, they will be able to configure and implement a secured network and mitigate security issues.
