The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert - Security CCIE certification exam is part of Cisco's CCIE certification which comprises of two exams. It is a required piece to the certification.

While there are no official prerequisites to take the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert - Security CCIE Certification, both Cisco and uCertify strongly recommend that the candidate have an in-depth understanding of the exam topics and three to five years of network security experience.

What is the exam's retake policy?

In the event that you fail your first attempt at passing the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert certification, Cisco's retake policy is:

  • Candidates may only take a beta exam once.
  • Candidates who fail an exam must wait a period of five calendar days, beginning the day after the failed attempt, before they may retest for the same exam.
  • Once passed, a candidate must wait a minimum of 180 days before taking the same exam with an identical exam number
What is the validity of the certification? Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert certification expires two years from date of issue, after which the certification holder will need to renew their certification. Click here for more information.

    This kit does a great job on going over much of the Cisco security portfolio. It goes over the Cisco firewalls, AAA, NAC solutions, IPS, MARS, VPNs, etc. It gives some basic configurations for most of these.
