About LPI CertificationsThe Linux Professional Institute Certification program is designed to certify the competency of IT professionals using the Linux operating system and its associated tools. The LPIC program is designed in multiple levels. Determining which tasks were suitable to each level was done using a “Job Task Analysis” (JTA) survey. The LPIC program consists of three levels of certification: LPIC-1, LPIC-2 and LPIC-3. Junior Level Linux Professional (LPIC-1)The Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) is a certification in the field of Linux. Each LPIC level requires successful completion of two exams for certification. The LPI certification program is designed to certify the competency of system administration using the Linux operating system and its associated tools. It is designed to be distribution neutral, following the Linux Standard Base and other relevant standards and conventions. The Linux Professional Institute does not endorse any third-party exam preparation material or techniques in particular. The Junior Level Linux Professional certification covers basic knowledge for Linux system administration and preparation to take the LPI 101 and LPI 102 exams. This course is designed for a person who has been performing basic system administration tasks and who needs to install, configure, and manage a Linux-based system. Advanced Level Linux Professional (LPIC-2)This LPIC-2 exam is really like the junior level exam, this certification requires that the candidate pass two exams, the LPI 201 and LPI 202. While these exams can be done before the Junior level exams, the LPI 101 and the LPI 102. After passing this exam candidates should be able to adequately administer a small to medium sized network comprising of mixed platform workstations and servers, Internet gateways, firewalls, proxies etc., and have an all-round awareness of automation techniques and peripherals.
