For further details about the retiring exams, kindly visit http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcpexams/status/examstoretire.mspx

Does retiring of an exam affect my certification status ?

Not at all, the certification do not retire when the related exams are discontinued. The MCAD, MCSD and MCDBA certifications will remain on your transcript even after the related exams retire on March 31, 2009. You can register for the exams which are being discontinued before the March 31, 2009 and you have time uptil May 31, 2009 to give that particular exam. The certification will not retire or be removed from your transcript when these exams do, but you will no longer be able to earn them if one of your required exam retires.
