  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a high school diploma.

HRCI has the following pre-requisites for Senior Professional in Human Resources certification:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Master’s degree or higher,
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Bachelor’s degree, OR
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a high school diploma.
How many questions are asked in the exam? The exam contains 175 questions.
What is the duration of the exam? 180 minutes
What is the passing score? 500

(on a scale of 0-700)

What is the exam's retake policy? PHR-SPHR certification is valid for three years after testing. HR professionals may retake either exam to maintain certification.
What is the validity of the certification? PHR/SPHR certification is valid for three years. Recertification is required through demonstrated professional development or retaking the exam.
