The CBAP exam is a standalone certification from IIBA with the exam code CBAP. The certification is targeted at project managers. This is a self-paced, independent study program, so there are no minimum or maximum restrictions placed by uCertify. The amount of time you will take depends on your existing knowledge of the area and related experience, as well as your availability. What certificate do I earn on passing the vendor certification?
If you pass IIBA's CBAP exam you will get credit towards the following certification:
What is the exam registration fee?
  • For members $325
  • For non members $450

The application fee of $125 USD (plus GST/HST for Canadian residents) for all applicants (IIBA member and non-member) payable online by credit card with the online application, or by cheque or international money order to IIBA. This fee is not refundable regardless of whether an application is approved or declined.

Where do I take the exam?
The CBAP is administered by Computer Based Testing at testing centers worldwide. Click here to register for the exam.
What is the format of the exam?
The exam consists of multiple choice with four possible answers Some questions are based on "comprehension" (e.g., definition, recall, etc.) and others are based on "situational analysis" (e.g. given a scenario, which is the best course of action) where the applicant must perform analysis to arrive at the answer. It is neither all of one type or the other but covers a range of Blooms taxonomy.
What is the Pre-requisites of the exam?

IIBA has the following pre-requisites for CBAP:

  • Minimum 7500 hours of BA work experience aligned with the BABOK® Guide in the last 10 years
  • Minimum 900 hours in each of four of the six knowledge areas
  • Minimum 21 hours of Professional Development in the past four years
  • Two references from a career manager, client or CBAP® recipient
  • Signed Code of Conduct

The exam contains 150 questions.

What is the exam's retake policy?

In the event that you fail your first attempt at passing the CBAP exam, IIBA's retake Policy is:

  • If the applicant does not pass the CBAP exam, he or she is allowed to retake the exam once within the one year period from the date of their application approval and exam eligibility email. However, they must wait three months from the date of their last exam before retaking the exam.
  • The fee to retake the exam is $250 USD (for IIBA members) or $375 (for non-members) (plus GST/HST for Canadian residents). Exam registration is not done until IIBA receives the exam fee.
  • If the applicant does not write and pass the exam within the one-year period, they must reapply (and pay full application and exam fees).
What is the validity of the certification?
CBAP certification expires after three years from date of issue, after which the certification holder will need to renew their certification. Click here to get more information.
