About the 640-863 DESGN: Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions exam
The Cisco’s 640-863 :Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions helps you learn how to plan a LAN/WAN infrastructure using analysis and modeling techniques to design a network using Cisco components.
This CCDA training is cutting edge and focuses on the newest Cisco PDIOO (Plan, Design, Implement, Operate, Optimize) analysis and methodology as well as teaching Cisco Enterprise Composite Network Modeling as the next generation beyond the Cisco 3-layer Design (Access/Distribution/Core). You’ll learn modular analysis and modeling along with the newest multilayer switching technology, routing essentials, IP telephony, IP addressing with NAT and IPv6, Management and more.
A CCNA certification is not required to take the CCDA exam (640-863 DESGN), but Cisco recommends being familiar with CCNA-level material, as well as BCMSN-level knowledge of Cisco-based LANs.
The 640-863 exam indicates a foundation or apprentice knowledge of network design for the Cisco converged networks based on SONA (Cisco’s Service-Oriented Network Architecture).
CCDA certified people can design switched or routed networks of LANs, WANs, and broadband services.
This test prepares you for various job roles, which include: Network Engineer, Network Architect, Security Architect, and Technical Designer.
CCDA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass one of the following current exams before the certification expiration date: any CCNA Concentration exam (wireless, security, voice), or CCDA, or any 642 – XXX Professional Level, or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or any CCIE Written or Lab, or CCDE Written or Practical exam or the Architect interview AND the Architect board review.
Exam 640-863 DESGN is the only exam required to earn the Cisco Certified Design Associate certification.

I just got this kit last week and find it very detailed and well written. I just started my fourth semester at my local college for DESGN training and thought this kit would be a good extra resource. This kit is designed more for somebody studying on their own.
Firstly I am thoroughly convinced that if your sole desire is to become 640-863 DESGN certifed, this kit has the content you need to pass. If you are diligent, study hard and have the patience to work with the material you won't have a problem passing.
