About the Cisco CCNP Voice (Formerly known as CCVP) Certification
The Cisco’s CCNP Voice (Formerly known as CCVP) certification is an international, vendor-neutral certification for computer support technicians. The CCNP Voice (Formerly known as CCVP) certification proves your competency as a computer technician by measuring your skills in areas such as the knowledge of the foundational elements of VOIP calls, and the description of dial plans, and the implementation of gateways, gatekeepers and IP-IP gateways. The CCNP Voice focuses on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Unified CallManager), quality of service (QoS), gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, voice applications, and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches. Additionally, the integration and troubleshooting of Cisco Unified Communications applications are now covered in the CCNP Voice, specifically the Cisco Unity Connection and Cisco Unified Presence applications. Cisco CCNP Voice certified technicians are expected to have excellent customer service and communication skills to work with clients.

Requirements for the Cisco CCNP Voice certification.
The only pre-requisites for the candidate to go for CCNP Voice certification is that they should have a valid CCNA voice or any CCIE certification before taking this test.
Cisco professional level certifications (CCNP, CCNP Wireless, CCDP, CCSP, CCNP Security, CCNP Voice, and CCIP) are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:
- Pass any current 642-XXX professional level exam
- Pass any current CCIE Written Exam,
- OR any CCIE Certification can act as a pre-requisite, or
- Pass the current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam, or
- Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications
Achieving or recertifying any of the certifications above automatically extends your active Associate and Professional level certification(s) up to the point of expiration of the last certification achieved.
