Things to practice for Microsoft exam 70-290

The Microsoft exam 70-290 measures an individual’s ability to manage and maintain a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment. Before taking the 70-290 exam, you should practice the following:

  1. Manage and maintain basic disks and dynamic disks.

  5. Manage local, roaming, and mandatory user profiles.
  6. Create and manage computer accounts in an Active Directory environment.
  7. Create and modify groups by using the Active Directory Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
  8. Identify and modify the scope of a group and manage group membership.
  9. Create and modify user accounts by using the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in and by using automation.
  10. Diagnose and resolve issues related to computer accounts by using the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in and reset computer accounts.
  11. Diagnose and resolve account lockouts and issues related to user account properties.
  12. Troubleshoot user authentication issues and manage shared folder permissions.
  13. Diagnose and resolve issues related to Terminal Services security and client access to Terminal Services.
  14. Verify effective permissions when granting permissions and change ownership of files and folders.
  15. Monitor and analyze events by using tools such as Event Viewer and System Monitor.
  16. Manage software update infrastructure and software site licensing.
  17. Manage a server by using Remote Assistance, Terminal Services remote administration mode, and available support tools.
  18. Troubleshoot and monitor print queues
  19. Monitor disk quotas and server hardware for bottlenecks.
  20. Monitor memory performance objects, network performance objects, process performance objects, and disk performance objects.
  21. Manage Internet Information Services (IIS) and security for IIS.
  22. Implement Automated System Recovery (ASR) and restore data from shadow copy volumes.
  23. Back up files and System State data to media and configure security for backup operations.
  24. Verify the successful completion of backup jobs and manage backup storage media.
  25. Recover from server hardware failure, restore backup data, and schedule backup jobs.
