Things to practice for Cisco exam 640-802

Cisco’s 640-802 Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is the composite exam associated with the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification. This exam is a single exam option for becoming a CCNA. A candidate can also opt for the ICND1 (640-822) and ICND2 (640-816) exams to be certified as a CCNA.

This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge and skills required to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium size enterprise branch network. Before taking the 640-802 exam, you should practice the following:

  1. Create a network of two computers through cross-over cables.
  2. Create a bus network.
  3. Create a star network.
  4. Create a mesh network.
  5. Configure hub, switch, and router.
  6. Configure DHCP on the network.
  7. Experiment with Voice/Video over IP (VoIP).
  8. Create an intranet.
  9. Configure your modem/router/ISDN to connect to the Internet.
  10. Use and understand the outputs of commands such as PING, PATHPING, and TRACERT.
  11. Use PING, TRACEROUTE, and TELNET or SSH utilities to verify configuration and connectivity.
  12. Configure a network interface card (NIC).
  13. Experiment with different types of media/cables/connecters to connect switch/router.
  14. Understand boot-up process of a router.
  15. Configure a wireless LAN.
  16. Configure and troubleshoot VLANs.
  17. Configure and troubleshoot trunking on Cisco switches.
  18. Configure and troubleshoot InterVLAN routing.
  19. Configure, verify, and troubleshoot VTP.
  20. Calculate VLSM IP addressing design to a network.
  21. Configure, verify, and troubleshoot OSPF, EIGRP, and RIPv2.
  22. Use CLI to experiment with different commands for a switch/router.
  23. Use SHOW and DEBUG commands to verify router hardware and software operation.
  24. Configure and apply access control lists based on various network filtering requirements.
  25. Configure NAT using command-line interface (CLI).
  26. Troubleshoot NAT implementation issues.
  27. Configure and verify Frame Relay on Cisco routers.
  28. Troubleshoot WAN implementation issues.
  29. Configure and very PPP connection between Cisco routers.
