A. This is a Professional Developer (PRO) Upgrade Exam for those who have obtained the MCAD certification. Therefore, MCPD: Windows Application Developer candidates must first earn the MCAD Certification, which consists of the following two mandatory core exams:

  • Web or Windows Application Development: The Web Application Development exam measures your ability to develop and implement Web-based applications with Web forms, ASP.NET, and the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 versions. If you focus on this exam as a core requirement, you can either take the 70-305 exam if you have a working knowledge of Visual Basic .NET language, or the 70-315 exam if you have a working knowledge of CSHARP .NET language.

    The Windows Application Development exam measures your ability to develop and implement Windows-based applications with Windows forms and the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 versions. If you focus on this exam as a core requirement, you can either take the 70-306 exam if you have a working knowledge of Visual Basic .NET language, or the 70-316 exam if you have a working knowledge of CSHARP .NET language.

    Note: For obtaining one core certification requirement, you can either take the Web Application Development or Windows Application Development exam. If you focus on the Web Application Development as a core exam, you can take one Windows Application Development exam as an elective exam or vice versa.

  • Web Services and Server Components Development: This is another core exam that measures your ability to develop and implement middle-tier components, server components, and XML Web services by using Visual Studio .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 versions. You can either take the 70-310 exam if you have a working knowledge of Visual Basic .NET language, or the 70-320 exam if you have a working knowledge of C# .NET language.
