Q. What is the CBAP exam?
A. The CBAP exam is conducted by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA). CBAP is a designation awarded to the candidates who have successfully demonstrated their expertise in this field. Candidates demonstrate their expertise by detailed hands-on work experience in business analysis through the CBAP application process, and passing the IIBA CBAP examination.

Candidates working in the role of business analysis, systems analysis, requirements analysis or management, project management, consulting or process improvement, and have an advanced level of knowledge and experience, should consider the many professional benefits of earning the CBAP designation.

Q. What are the prerequisites for the CBAP exam?
A. Following are the requirements for the CBAP exam:

Work Experience Requirement: 7,500 hours (i.e., five years) business analysis work experience in the last ten years engaged in tasks specifically related to the knowledge areas as defined within the BABOK. The ten year timeframe is based on the application date.

Knowledge Areas Requirement: Demonstrated experience and expertise (i.e., a minimum of 900 hours (i.e., 6 months) of business analysis work experience engaged in tasks specifically related to the knowledge areas as defined within the BABOK) in at least four of the six knowledge areas.

Education Requirement: The minimum education requirement is high school or equivalent.

*Note: There will be no reduction in work experience for post secondary education.

Professional Development Requirement: 21 hours of professional development in the last four years. The professional development content must be directly related to the business analysis or its underlying competencies and must be completed by the application date.

Reference Requirement: Two references from a career manager, client (internal or external), or Certified Business Analysis Professional are required. These references must indicate that you are a suitable candidate for the CBAP certification.

Q. What credit does the CBAP exam provide?
A. If a candidate passes the CBAP exam, he/she can use the designation of Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).

Q. How many questions are asked in the test?
A. 150

Q. What is the duration of the test?
A. Three and a half hours

Q. Which type of the test is it? (Adaptive/Linear)
A. Linear

Q. What is the passing score?
A. The exam score is based on a cumulative total. The cut score is calculated based on the cumulative performance of test items and adjusted as needed. The IIBA Certification Body will not publicly reveal the cut score or the pass rate for any exam.

Q. What is the test retake policy?
A. A Candidate must wait three months from the date of the last exam before he/she is allowed to retake the exam. Candidates are permitted to retake the exam only once within a one year period from the date of your exam eligibility letter. However, you must wait three months from the date of your last exam before retaking the exam. The fee to retake the exam is $250 USD for IIBA members and $375 for non-members.

If a failed candidate wants to have the exam re-scored, the fee is $65 US and it must be received by IIBA before the exam can be re-scored.

A. If a candidate is working in the role of business analysis, systems analysis, requirements analysis or management, project management, consulting or process improvement, this exam is good for him/her.

A. IIBA has specified more than twelve objectives for the CBAP test. These objectives are grouped under six topics. Following are the important areas in which an individual should possess good knowledge before taking the CBAP test:

A. Computer-based testing of the CBAP exam is available at dedicated test centers around the world.
