The tracer token is a facility in the Replication Monitor tool that is used to measure latency. It is a record sent by the Distributor database to the Subscriber database. This facility is provided by the transactional replication to measure latency and to validate the connections among the Publisher, Distributor, and Subscriber databases. It measures the time between a transaction committed at the Publisher database and the committed transaction is inserted at the Distributor database. It also measures the time between a transaction committed at the Distributor database and the committed transaction is inserted at the Subscriber database.
