What is the Temporary Internet Files folder?
Rating:
The Temporary Internet Files folder is located on the hard disk of a computer. This folder is used to store Web pages, graphics files, cookies, JavaScript files, among other things. It speeds up the display of frequently visited pages because Internet Explorer opens them from the hard disk instead of from the Web. Although increasing the space for this folder increases the speed of accessing previously visited pages, it decreases the amount of space available for other files on the computer. A user can set the size of this folder, or empty it, to control how much space it uses on the hard disk. This folder also allows a user to view Web pages while working offline. A user should regularly check this folder because a full Temporary Internet Files folder creates a problem in viewing History files, saving graphics files on the hard disk as a .jpg or .gif, etc.
