What is the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) model?

The Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) model is a process model provided by Microsoft. It combines the best principles of the waterfall and spiral models. It takes the benefits of predictability from the waterfall model and the benefits of feedback and creativity from the spiral model. Therefore, it can be defined as a phased-based, milestone-driven, and iterative process model. The following image shows the MSF process model:
