What is the Merge Module Project?
Rating:
The Merge Module Project template is used to create installation packages for serviced components and .NET remoting objects. These installation packages are shared by multiple applications. This project creates an .msm file that is merged with the Installer package of an application, instead of installing it directly with a packaged component. On installation, the Windows Installer in the Windows database maintains the component's reference count. When another application is installed, the Windows Installer simply increments the component's reference count, instead of installing the component.
