What is the isIdentical(EJBObject obj) method?
Rating:
The isIdentical(EJBObject obj) method of the EJBObject interface tests whether two objects on the server are identical. It returns true if the two objects being compared refer to the same bean instance. The results obtained for different bean types are as follows:
- For stateless session beans, it always returns true if the two objects being compared are from the same home.
- Two instances of a stateful session bean can never be identical. Hence, for the stateful session beans, the isIdentical(EJBObject obj) method always returns false.
- For an entity bean, this method returns true if two bean instances represent the same entity in the database. This is only possible when the two bean instances have the same primary key and the same home.
