What is the IS NOT NULL clause?

August 20th, 2009 by uCertify Leave a reply »

The IS NOT NULL clause is used to check whether or not a column in a table contains NULL values. The IS NOT NULL clause returns all the rows of a column that does not have NULL values.

The following example will demonstrate the use of the IS NOT NULL clause:

SELECT CustID FROM Employees WHERE Fname IS NOT NULL

This statement will retrieve the CustID of all customers whose Fname does not contain any empty string.
