What is the INTENT NONE lock?

April 16th, 2006 by uCertify Leave a reply »

In the INTENT NONE lock, a lock owner can read all data, including uncommitted data, stored in the locked resource. However, the lock owner cannot modify data stored in the locked resource. This lock does not prevent any other access to the table, be that in the form of selects, inserts, updates, deletes, etc. This lock, however, prevents another application/user from dropping the table while the query is running.
