What is the FileStream class?

Rating:

The FileStream class is derived from the System.IO namespace. It is inherited by the Stream class. It specifies write, read, and other file-related operations either in synchronous or asynchronous manner. The Read and Write methods are used for performing synchronous read and write operations respectively. Similarly, the BeginRead, BeginWrite, EndRead, and EndWrite methods are used for performing asynchronous read and write operations. The FileStream class supports random access to files by using the Seek method. It also buffers input and output files for better performance.
