What is the exposed node issue?

July 23rd, 2009 by uCertify Leave a reply »

The exposed node issue happens when two wireless cells are on the same channel and they are very close to each other. This issue occurs often in wireless B/G networks because they have only three non-overlapping cells. If the clients in either of the overlapping cells transmit data, a collision occurs in the network. This issue can be mitigated by changing the network topology, changing the channel allocation, and deploying an 802.11 network.
