The Backup Operators group is one of the built-in local groups supported by the Windows XP Professional operating system. The members of the Backup Operators group are able to back up and restore user's files and folders, system state files, and other critical operating system files. The members of this group can also log on to the computer and shut it down, but they cannot change the security settings.
