What is STP?
Rating:
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is a bridge protocol that uses Spanning Tree algorithm. STP stops layer-2 loops in the network and allows switches to work dynamically by creating a spanning tree. Switches exchange bridge protocol data unit (BPDU) messages with other bridges to detect loops. Once a loop is detected, they remove the loops by shutting down the selected bridge interface.
