What is RMDIR command?

The RMDIR command is used to remove a directory in a Linux computer.

Syntax:

RMDIR [options] <directory name>

OptionDescription
-p, --parentsRemoves a directory and, if possible, removes each part of the path name.
--verbose Prints a message for each removed directory.
--help Provides help with the program.

Example:

The following command will remove a directory named xdir from the /home/user directory:

RMDIR /home/user/xdir
