What is RIS?

Remote Installation Services (RIS) is used to install a copy of the operating system throughout the organization from a remote location. It helps reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server, RIS Server, and Active Directory Server services are required to complete Windows 2000/XP Professional installation using RIS.
