What is NLB.EXE?

NLB.EXE is a command-line utility provided by Windows Server 2003. This utility is used to control functions of a Network Load Balancing cluster. NLB.EXE is the equivalent program as WLBS.EXE provided with the earlier versions of Windows.

The following is a list of some important parameters used with NLB.EXE:

ParameterDescription
DisplayThis parameter is used to display the configuration parameter stored in the registry for a specific cluster. It also displays the most recent cluster-related System log entries, the computers IP configuration, and the cluster's current status.
ParamsThis parameter is used to display all the current configuration parameters of a specified cluster on the local host.
queryThis parameter is used to display the current state of all hosts in a specified cluster.
