What is MTTR?

MTTR is an abbreviation for minimum/ mean/ maximum time to recovery/ respond/ replace/ repair/ resolve. Each expansion of MTTR has a different meaning in different contexts. If MTTR is taken as mean time to recovery, then it is the average time that a device takes to recover from a non-terminal failure. It is also the average time required to perform instance or media recovery on the database.

In case of media recovery, the factors mentioned below influence MTTR:

  • The method used to perform media recovery.
  • The size of the database,
  • etc.
