What is GlobalNames?
Rating:
GlobalNames is a zone of Windows Server 2008 DNS. It provides single-label name resolution for networks where Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) is not deployed. As a GlobalNames zone does not support dynamic updates, administrators are required to manage all records in the zone. GlobalNames was introduced with Windows Server 2008 DNS to help phase out WINS.
