Fragment caching is a technique to cache portion of a response generated by a Web request. Sometimes it becomes necessary to cache a portion of the entire contents of a Web page. The cached portion must be customized for the user request and other portions can be common to the entire application, such as the logo of a company site. Such data items that are frequently accessed can be created once and then cached for some duration for their later use. The portion of the page to be cached can be created as a User control and its cache properties can be set using the @ OutputCache directive of ASP .NET. For example:
