What is ELHO?

Rating:

ELHO is one of the ESMTP commands used to test ESMTP connectivity between an Exchange Server 2003 server and a remote SMTP host. When an ESMTP client sends a message to an SMTP server, the client sends an ELHO command requesting the server to initiate an ESMTP session. Its function is the same as that of the HELO command. However, unlike HELO, the ELHO command supports host authentication and encryption. Both Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 support ESMTP by default.
