What is dual core processor?

Rating:

A dual core processor is a CPU with two separate cores in the same chip. Each core has its own cache. A dual core processor is an equivalent of two microprocessors in a computer. In a dual core processor, both cores handle incoming data strings simultaneously, resulting in improved efficiency. Hence a dual core system is faster than a single-core or traditional processor system. A dual core processor does not require a new motherboard, but can be used in existing boards having the correct socket. Intel and AMD are the companies that are making dual core processors.
