What is DSL?

Rating:

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. It is a technology used for transmitting data over copper wires between telephone service providers and end users. A DSL hardware known as a DSL modem must be available at both the ends of a phone line to facilitate data transmission. DSL supports data transmission rates up to 1.5 Mbps while receiving data, and up to 640 Kbps while sending data. The transmission between the service provider and the end-user is fast if they are close by. The maximum range of transmission is three miles.
