Autonegotiation is an Ethernet procedure used in a network containing various connecting devices. Through autonegotiation, two connected devices choose common transmission parameters, such as speed and duplex mode. When configured for it, the connected devices first share their capabilities for these parameters and then choose the fastest transmission mode they both support. Previously, this procedure was called NWay. Copyright © 2009-2010 Wikipedia. All rights reserved.
