What is an SMA connector?

An SMA (Subminiature version A) connector is a coaxial RF connector designed in the 1960s. It is designed as a minimal connector interface for coaxial cable that follows the screw type coupling mechanism. The impedance of an SMA connector is 50 O. It provides an outstanding electrical performance from DC to 18 GHz.
