What is a symbol?
Rating:
A symbol is an object that a user creates once and reuses it throughout a Flash file. Symbols can be of three types: graphic, button, or movie clip. A symbol, which a user creates, is automatically stored to the document's library (Window > Library). Every time a user drags a symbol from the Library to the Stage, an instance of the symbol is placed on the Stage. The user can place many instances of a symbol within a document without storing multiple copies of the symbol in the Flash file. Editing or changing a symbol affects all the instances of that symbol on the document.
