A stored script is a named group of Recovery Manager (RMAN) commands sequentially stored within a recovery catalog. Any RMAN command that is allowed in a RUN block can be included in the stored script. A recovery catalog must exist for storing stored scripts.

The CREATE SCRIPT command is used to create a stored script. The stored script is automatically stored in the recovery catalog to which the RMAN is currently connected.

A stored script can be executed using the EXECUTE SCRIPT command within a RUN block.

The REPLACE SCRIPT command is used to replace the contents (all RMAN commands) of a stored script with new contents.

The DELETE SCRIPT command is used to remove a stored script from the recovery catalog.

The PRINT SCRIPT command is used to display the contents of a stored script. The output can also be saved to an RMAN log file.

The RMAN commands used to create, replace, delete, and display a stored script can be executed only at the RMAN prompt.
