What is a reference type?

A reference type is a data type in the .NET Framework, which stores a reference of the actual data in the memory. It can include strings, all array types, class types, interfaces and delegates. The keywords that are used to declare a reference type include class, interface, and delegate. The built-in reference type includes the object and string keywords.
