What is a local HTTP-based Web site?

Rating:

A local HTTP-based Web site uses Internet Information Services (IIS) installed on a local computer. When a local IIS Web site is created, all the files and folders are stored under the default IIS folder i.e. in the <drive>:\Inetpub\wwwroot on the local computer. This Web site is useful when developers create Web pages on a local computer with IIS installed on it. Developers can test Web sites with the IIS features such as HTTP-based authentication, application pooling, and ISAPI filters.
