What is a JMS topic?

Rating:

A JMS topic ensures that multiple beans can receive a message. Multiple consumers subscribe to a topic, so that when a message arrives at the topic, they can receive the message. The subscriptions are of two types as follows:

  1. Durable: The subscriber must be present at the time when the message arrives, or the message will be lost.
  2. Non durable: The subscriber may not be present at the time when the message arrives. It can receive the message later when the server starts.

The durability is specified in the deployment descriptor using the <subscription-durability> element.
