What is a JMS queue?

October 22nd, 2008 by uCertify Leave a reply »

A JMS queue is used for point-to-point communication of a message. It supports only a single message consumer. Message destination is specified in the deployment descriptor using the <destination-type> sub-element of the <message-driven-destination> element. A message producer sends a message to a single destination. Once the consumer consumes the message, it cannot be used by any other consumer. Only a single bean type can be associated with a queue. Even if the server is down at the time when the message arrives, the message will not be lost.
