What is a JAR file?

JAR stands for Java Archive. A file in JAR format contains the following mandatory attributes:
- MIDlet-Name: It specifies the name of the MIDlet suite packaged in the JAR file.
- MIDlet-Version: It specifies the version number of the MIDlet suite packaged in the JAR file.
- MIDlet-Vendor: It specifies the producer of the MIDlet suite.
- MIDlet-n: It specifies three things, namely MIDlet name, MIDlet image, and MIDlet class name.
- Microedition-Profile: It specifies the name and version of the J2ME profile.
- Microedition-Configuration: It specifies the name and version of the J2ME configuration.
