A frame rate is the frequency at which the number of frames that are projected in one second of time. The name originates from the number of still pictures on the reel of tape used by video projectors. The frame rate for motion pictures is 24 frames per second (fps), and the frame rate for digital images is approx. 60 fps. It is equivalent to a sampling rate. However, a difference is that a frame rate is termed for video file formats and a sampling rate is termed for audio file formats.
