What does the Merge Drawing model refer to?

The Merge Drawing model automatically merges shapes into a single object when overlaid. It alters the appearance of overlapped shapes. When a user moves a shape, the shape below it is permanently altered. To draw a shape using the Merge Drawing model, deselect the Object Drawing mode in the Options section of the Tools panel before drawing the shape.
