Rating:

In Microsoft Excel, four security levels can be set for macros. The levels are described as follows:

  • Very High:
  • In this security level, macros installed in trusted locations are allowed to run. All other signed and unsigned macros are disabled.
  • High:
  • In this security level, only signed macros from trusted locations are allowed to run. All the unsigned macros are automatically disabled.
  • Medium:
  • In this security level, unsigned macros are disabled, and signed macros are dealt with depending on their source. In this security level, a user can choose whether or not to run potentially unsafe macros.
  • Low:
  • In this security level, almost all the macros can be run and a user is not protected against potentially unsafe macros. Therefore, it is not recommended to set the Low security level.
