What are the minimum hardware requirements for installing Windows Server 2008?

Before Windows Server 2008 is deployed to a computer, the minimum hardware requirements should be met. The following table displays the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for installing Windows Server 2008 on a computer:

Hardware Component Minimum Requirements Recommended Requirements
Processor 1GHz for x86 and 1.4GHz for x64 2GHz or faster
RAM 512MB 2GB
Free Disk Space 15GB 40GB

Note: The minimum free disk space requirement includes the space for operating system, additional space for the swap file, for log files to be stored, and for any additional server roles to be installed on the server at a later date.
