What are the methods present in a message-driven bean class?

Rating:

A message-driven bean class implements the MessageDrivenBean interface and the MessageListener interface. Hence, it is required to implement the following methods from these interfaces:

  • public void ejbRemove(): This method comes from the MessageDrivenBean interface. It is used to free the resources allocated in the ejbCreate() method. The container calls this method before removing an instance of a message-driven bean.

  • public void setMessageDrivenContext(MessageDrivenContext mdc): This method comes from the MessageDrivenBean interface. The container calls it after the instance creation. This method associates a message-driven bean instance with its context maintained by the container.

  • public void onMessage(Message message): This method comes from the MessageListener interface. It is the only business method of the message-driven beans. It should be public, non-static, non-final, and should have a return type as void.
