The limitations of the EXTEND method are as follows:

  • The EXTEND method cannot be used with index-by tables.
  • The EXTEND method cannot be used to append elements to a collection that is not initialized.
  • The EXTEND(n) and EXTEND(x,n) overloaded forms of the EXTEND method cannot be used if the NOT NULL constraint is imposed on a table or varray.

Note:

  • EXTEND(n) adds n number of null elements to a collection.
  • EXTEND(x,n) adds x copies of the nth element to a collection.
