The dynamic performance views are maintained on the server, and these are only accessible to the database administrator category user known as SYS. Most names of dynamic performance views have V$ as their prefix. Depending on the features installed and configured, an Oracle 10g database can have a maximum of 350 dynamic performance views. The dynamic performance views are continuously updated when the database is open and in use.
