What are the different settings in Network And Sharing Center?

The Sharing And Discovery section of Network And Sharing Center has following settings:

  • Network Discovery : This setting if enabled will detect all the other network and devices. It is enabled by default only on Private networks.
  • File Sharing : This setting if enabled allows file and printer sharing across the network. It is disabled by default for all the network types.
  • Printer Sharing : This setting if enabled allows users to connect to network printer.
  • Password Protected Sharing : This setting if enabled requires users to have a user account to connect to shared resources. This setting is disabled by default for all network types.
  • Media Sharing : This setting if enabled allows computers and network devices to access shared music, pictures, and videos, etc on the computer.
  • Public Folder Sharing: This setting is used to share files with other user of the same computer. But if enabled allows users across the network to connect to the Public folder and read or modify files. This setting is also disabled by default for all the network types.
