What are the common Boolean operators supported by search engines?

Search engines do not support all the Boolean operators in the same way. Some use symbols while others require commands or other methods for advance search options. However, the following list shows common Boolean operators supported by search engines:
| AND, & | Results must include both the keywords. |
| OR, | | Results must include at least one of the keywords. |
| + | Results must include the words after the plus sign. |
| NOT, ! | Result must exclude the word after this operator. |
| New, ADJ, FAR, BEFORE | Two keywords on a page must be within a certain proximity to each other, (near and far). |
| "" | Keywords or phrase must appear exactly in the same manner. |
| (),<>,[],{} | Boolean operation must be performed in a specified order. |
| * (Asterisk) | The results must include variations of the root. For example, cert* will include, certification, certify, certifications, etc. |
| . (DOT) | The results cannot include words containing the keyword. For example, cert. will not be replaced by certify, etc. |
